The Yoga Studio Teachers

Shiva Reinhardt

My Philosophy: I believe that yoga is not just a very effective form of exercise, but your time on the mat is also a place where you can spend quality time with yourself. It is a mind-body exercise that can help you feel more empowered, strong, flexible, and at-home in your own body. Yoga also works on your emotional body to help release stress and other difficult emotions that get stored in your muscle tissue.

About Me: I began teaching with no training whatsoever at bryce canyon national park for staff members in 2002. I trained with Ana Forrest in 2005 in NYC for 220 hours over the span of 26 days, which was a very emotionally rich and physically demanding training. I studied with Shiva rea for 90 hours in Venice Beach, CA to continue my training and I am always seeking more education to keep my practice alive. I have taught classes continually since 2002 and have over 1000 hours of teaching experience.

My Classes: You will find my Morning Energetic Yoga class challenging, vigorous and yet meditative. While I give lots of verbal instruction and hands on assists, in all my classes there are also periods of silence for inner reflection and times when I keep my hands-off to encourage you to find your own point of awareness and balance in the pose. While I like to point your awareness to your body, and to your intention, I keep my speech simple. During our final relaxation of savasana, which is a crucial part of every class, I will sometimes read a short poem. I close every class by chanting a single om, in keeping with the ancient practice of yoga.

About Marianne Mohr

I began yoga and meditation practice with Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self Realization Fellowship in Encinitas California. Since then I’ve practiced yoga and meditation for over 35 years! After retiring, I made Ruidoso NM my home in 2004 and here my practice grows under the tutelage of teacher, Shiva Reinhardt of the Blue Lotus Healing Arts Center.

My yogic path honors Sri T. Krishnamacharya and son Sri Desikachar, whose teaching inspire my journey to discover “what is yoga?” Pattanjali’s answer: “Yoga is the ability to direct the mind without distraction or interruption" provides wonderful inspiration for my yogic practice and teaching. Practically, yoga healed a tough knee ski injury and I now function very well without an ACL ~ due to yoga strengthening and retraining! I LOVE YOGA!

In 2003 I was honored to take my Bodhisattva vows with HH The Dalai Lama during his teaching in NYC and in 2004 I sponsored his 10 day Kalachakra Initiation in Toronto receiving the transmissions. I'm also certified in the Three Jewels and Five Mindfulness Trainings in the 43rd generation of the Lam Te Dhyana School and tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn. The Dharma name bestowed to me is “Source of Enlightened Compassion” (there's some pressure eh?)

Born in Budapest Hungary, my family escaped during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and I became a naturalized citizen in 1965. I’m an artist inspired by Buddhist thought and author of The Zen of Corporate Entrepreneurs. Spiritual teachers include Eckhart Tolle and Pema Chodron. I live with 4 poodle rescues and 2 miniature horses on a ranchette outside of Ruidoso NM.

I look forward to seeing you in class and to positively contribute to your Yoga experience!
