This is a 1 hour class that runs for 5 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 3rd – october 3rd for the older adult to experience safe fresh mindful movements, simplistic slower flows & asana variations on the mat, chair and the large Fitness ball, with tips and take aways to use in everyday life.

Although this series is focused on the Senior adult – anyone is welcome to this experience.

Week 1: mindful mini-Vinyasas that stretch, lengthen and open the spine with a concentration on the core to ignite a gentle fire of awareness which gives way to a focused posture.

Week 2: Mini-Vinyasas that lead into a variety of balance poses that continue the concentration on the core fire strength and mindful posture, with static poses to focus on muscle strength.

Week 3: Mini-Vinyasas and static poses in the chair, which assist in a deeper supported concentration that are very good tools for when seated at home, work and travel.

Week 4: Slow flow variations will be in standing, seated and full body on the mat, with creative fun & safe balance challenge.

Week 5: Let’s celebrate our last classes together with Yoga on the large fitness ball. Each student will experience the entire class on the ball. If you have never used a fitness a ball, this is great opportunity to learn in a creative, safe and mindful way.

April’s Yoga experience began through teaching fitness in Maine, she moved to New Mexico in 2001, teaching Yoga at gyms and local studios and soon began a deeper knowledge through Iyengar Yoga, which led her to the Destination Within Yoga School hosted by the Blue Lotus Yoga Studio in Ruidoso, NM and received her Yoga teacher certificate 200HR RYT. April’s Yoga style is intuitive, mindful and encourages strength with personal self. April is in her 60’s! Young at heart and spirit. She recently designed the Silver Citizens Yoga Experience workshop that she teaches seasonally at the Blue Lotus Yoga Studio along with Vinyasa flow classes.

Silver Citizen’s Yoga Experience

Vinyasa

Vinyasa is a flowing practice that includes sun salutations and syncronizing breath with movement. This will be a 90 minute practice, including a substantial savasana (rest) at the end.

All Levels

All Levels means everyone is welcome to our practice. Modifications will be given for newcomers and advanced variations will be offered for seasoned practitioners.

Props

April will use a variety of props including chairs and large fitness balls to ensure that everyone attending is able to participate to the fullest.
